Grilled Pork Tenderloin from The Majestic Grille:
The pork is always cooked perfectly, savory with the sweet maple cream is a perfect combination. Paired with the sweetness of the carrots and the garlic of the mashed potatoes, this is a dish I could eat over and over again.
The Majestic Grille:
Majestic is one of the best restaurants downtown for any occasion. A family meal, a group of friends, a date, lunch, dinner, brunch... there is something for everyone. There is a wide range of food options from vegetarian to chicken to fish to meat, as well as something for every budget. Patrick, the chef, is extremely talented and creative. Don't miss the specials for something unique and different!
Seared Duck Foie Gras from Circa by John Bragg:
I CANNOT go into Circa without ordering this appetizer. It is seriously some of the best foie gras I have ever had. It is just perfectly seared so that outside has a slight crust and the inside retains the silky smoothness. Paired with the sweetness of the strawberry and honey and the crunch of the crepe basket gives you a bite that simply can't be beat. If you like foie gras, you will not be disappointed. If you have never had foie gras, this is a great place to start and be adventurous!
Breakfast Casserole of the Day from Cockadoos:
No matter what the casserole is, it is one of my faves on the menu. It is one of the more flavorful dishes at the restaurant and always seems to be cooked perfectly (while other things tend to sometimes be overcooked). It is also a great deal and one of the cheaper hearty options on the menu.
Catfish and Grits from Cockadoos:
After trying many dishes on the menu, this tops the list. The grits are creamy and delicious, contrasted nicely with the saltiness of the fish. A must-try at 4am!
Jerusalem:
Hidden away in an ancient Summer Avenue strip mall, this place is worth searching for. The food is authentic (as far as a white girl from Michigan can tell, anyway) and delicious. The falafel are some of the best I've had anywhere, and I love me some falafel.
South of Beale:
I love love love the Cheddar Grit Fries. Even better with the horseradish sauce. These things are crave-worthy.
P & H Cafe:
It's not the same without Wanda, but the P & H is still a Memphis landmark. The food may not be outstanding, but it satisfies and the atmosphere more than makes up for anything the menu lacks. Oh, and the P & H has the BEST trivia night in Memphis (Tuesdays).
Bryant's Breakfast:
Bryant's is the best breakfast in Memphis. If you have guests in town, you should definitely make a trip to Bryant's one morning. They have delicious southern staples, great coffee and the staff could not be friendlier.
The Belmont Burger from Belmont Grill:
This is hands down the best burger in town! Sorry Huey's.
